Purpose of the program
The International MSc in Personalized Medicine aims to educate graduate students to plan, implement and evaluate Personalized Medicine programs and actions. Personalized Medicine is a rapidly evolving field, covering the diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum of all diseases. In the context of Personalized Medicine, the molecular-biological basis of disease is studied and used for individualised treatment choices, following the principle 'the right medication for the right patient'. The MSc Personalized Medicine covers Molecular basis of disease, Modern diagnostic approaches and biomarkers, translational research, research methodology, pharmacogenomics, clinical medicine, biomedicine, biotechnology and economics of targeted therapies.
Program Objectives:
- To promote knowledge, advance research, cover educational, research and societal needs and contribute to the development of the scientific field of Personalized Medicine
- To educate biomedical scientists in the applications of Personalized Medicine for research, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- To provide high-level interdisciplinary training of young scientists towards scientific research or employment in the Health and Innovation Sectors.
- To prepare graduates for doctoral level studies
Duration and Attendance
- Duration: 1 year (fall and spring semesters), 60 ECTS.
- Part-time attendance is possible (2 years duration).
- Language of teaching: English
Courses are delivered throughout the Fall and Spring Semester in the afternoon Wednesday till Friday and Saturday morning. They are held online via zoom weekly and at the premises of the University of Patras once a month. Course attendance in mandatory.
Admission of Students
The program accepts up to 50 students per year. Candidates must have a first degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Nursing or other university departments with related subjects. Applications must be submitted via the online application system of the University of Patras.
Fees
Tuition fees: €2000, payable in two installments
Free Tuition:
- A full tuition exemption is available to Postgraduate students whose individual income and family income, if shared, do not independently exceed, the individual 100%, and the family 70% of the national average disposable equivalent income.
- Fee waiver applications, along with supporting documents, are submitted after registration and payment of 1st instalment. The total number of students with tuition waiver cannot exceed thirty percent (30%) of the total number of admitted students.
